Lent and Exercise
The period of 40 days (46 days minus Sundays) before Easter is called Lent. Lent is when Christians usually exercise abstinence and repent (though you can do this at any point in the year).
At the start of Lent (in fact, ever since I failed a push-up exam in Form 1), I decided to start a daily exercise routine: 3 sets of 10 push-ups, sit-ups and squats. I finally started this exercise routine yesterday, and I found that I was severely out of shape: I could do 30 push-ups with minimal difficulty, and 30 squats quite easily, but this wasn't the problem (hey! 30 push-ups is great!). The problem was that I couldn't do 30 sit-ups easily anymore. In form 1, I could do 50 sit-ups with minimal difficulty; but now I can't do 20 sit-ups without my abs hurting like mad. This just goes to show that procrastination isn't all that good for you.
This morning, I did 2 sets of 10 instead of 3. I still could do squats fine, but whenever I did a push-up, my abs would hurt (and my shoulders, but that's ok) and also I just couldn't find the strength to endure the pain of doing more that 20 sit-ups.
Anyway, better late than never right?
Happy Easter everybody!
