To Blogger…

Alright, like I’ve mentioned in the previous post, I’m killing the Wordpress blog and moving it back to blogger, then I found out that you could export and import blogs on blogspot, so I moved it to a new address. So here is a list of things you may need to do:

  1. Note the new address. The new Blogspot blog’s address is http://gabriel-gallardo.blogspot.com/
  2. Update bookmarks accordingly
  3. Update feed readers, the new feed is at http://feeds.feedburner.com/gabriels-horn

This may be the last post that will be posted on this blog. Please go to http://gabriel-gallardo.blogspot.com/ from now on.

Wordpress or Blogger?

Hi everybody, it's me.

Sorry I've been putting off blogging for such a long time. It's probably because I have to post to two blogs at once: the Wordpress one and the Blogger one. I've been thinking and I think that I should stick with one blog, just so it's easier for me.

So I did some research and found out that the Wordpress blog was more well known among the blogosphere, but more people read the Blogspot blog. So, along with factors of user-friendliness and ease of use, I've decided to kill the Wordpress blog.

The main factors of me killing the Wordpress blog is just interface. Personally I prefer Blogger for its ease of use. Sure, I can't have pages like I do on Wordpress, but I don't have anything to put on them. So, this will be the last entry on the Wordpress blog. I hope this doesn't convenience you in any way, and I hope you will still be reading this blog. I'll put up a podcast hopefully next week, I've adjusting to school life and I've been very tired, I'll see what I can do next weekend.

Thanks again,
Gabriel

Summer and GH#23 uStream

Ah summer… When we can just sit back relax and do nothing (of course stuff like TV and video games and internet and jamming on the guitar, doing absolutely nothing is absolutely boring). This summer, I'm going to the Philippines. Yes that's what I said: going to the Philippines.

I went with my family to the Phils last summer and last February. We went last summer just because we could; we went last February because it was my grandparents (Dad's) 50th Wedding Anniversary. We are going this summer because my grandparents have been asking (begging) my parents to let my sister and I come for the summer, added to the conditions my grandfather (Mom's) is in after the passing of my grandmother. We decided to go despite unknown summer events at my sisters new high school (She just graduated).

She went to the school to register yesterday and found out that there were classes (English Bridging Programs, English and Math Enhancement Classes) that she had to attend during our absence. The school said that if she does well in the Pre-S1 HK Attainment Tests, she may be excused from the classes.

There's nothing I can do about that. But what I can do about me going to the Philippines in summer is deliver to you GH#23 live on uStream on Wednesday the 16th of July at 6:00pm HKT (10am UTC), the day before we leave, remember to catch that.

Keep watching the blog and Twitter. I might be able to record a show from the Philippines.

See you guys on Wednesday!

Run for Unity

After my tentative post yesterday, I thought I should talk a bit more about this Run for Unity thing. This activity is kind of like the Olympic torch. Runners pass a baton to each other and they cross time-zones and circle the world in 24 hours.

The young people from the Pacific island of Fiji will kick off the event at 4pm in their time zone. At 5pm, by means of an internet link, they will pass the baton on to the next time zone.
Over the course of the next 24 hours, the baton will pass through locations of every latitude and in each location personalities from the world of sport, culture, as well as civic and religious leaders will participate.

How to relax on a busy weekend

This weekend, I will be participating in an event called "Run for
Unity". This event will be hosted by Focolare Youth on May 10, 2008. It
is basically a worldwide relay: They start running from New Zealand,
then you cross time-zones to Australia and so on... I have to be in Tsim
Sha Tsui at 1.45pm til about 5pm. Not sure what all that time is for,
but I bet it's going to be fun.

Also this weekend, I'm going to be confirmed as I said in my last post.
We had our rehersal last Sunday (which wasn't all that brilliant), and I
think, as one of the local pop songs say, we are ready. We know what
we're doing and why, I think this will just be great, brilliant.

As for how to relax on a busy weekend, the following day is Budda's
birthday, and here we get a holiday for that. I'll be able to catch up
on sleep, finish some homework, and just take a break.

A few things that will be happening over the weekend…

Saturday, finally time to rest after a long week. But this Saturday, I have to meet with Fr. Alex Mendez as I am to be confirmed soon. Confirmation is a sorta rite of passage in the Catholic Church. Our original sin is washed away and receive Jesus when we are baptized, this is when we are officially entered into the Catholic Church. At confirmation, we confirm the vows we took at baptism and we receive the Holy Spirit, the helper that Jesus promised us, just like at Pentecost when the disciples received the Holy Spirit.

Also this weekend, RTHK (the local radio station, who also produces several TV series on Hong Kong) is going to be showing a program about our school. They came about ten years ago to document the change from English-medium of instruction to Chinese-medium of instruction as we were one of the first schools to do this. They came back a few weeks ago to see how things have changed over the past decade and how the Chinese-medium of instruction has affected the school. They are going to be showing this on local channel TVB Jade at 7.30 in the evening. On the day they were filming, I was doing the morning prayer; also, I had a friendly chat with the principal during recess and I noticed that they were filming that quite extensively. There is a chance that I'll be on that program this weekend. How exciting.
