Here is another interesting picture I took. One night, we went walking up a hill that we've never gone up before and discovered a baseball park and some tennis courts. Personally, I have never seen a baseball park before (except on TV). As I am not a baseball fan, I can only say that it was nice. It also served as a soccer field at one end. At the entrance, there was a lamp post with a trash bin tied to it and I thought: Hey, that's a good shot! So I took it (with a flash, it was dark) and here you go: The Imprisoned Trash Bin.

MTR coming out of Hyperspace
Hi, this is a photo I took on Oct 14, 2007. I took it at Kowloon Bay MTR Station because it didn't have platform screen doors. The camera I used at the time was a Kodak point-and-shoot camera from 1999. I set the exposure level to 2 and focused at the platform. When the train came, i pressed the shutter button, and hey presto! The MTR coming out of Hyperspace.

The Kyoto Protocol
The Greenhouse effect is a good thing, it keeps the Earth warm and habitable not a frozen wasteland. There is a such thing as of too much of a good thing. Ever since the industrial revolution, our greenhouse gas emissions have gone up dramatically, the CO2 content in the atmosphere has also been at its highest in 650,000 years. In 1997, the Kyoto protocol opened for signature, since then 169 countries or government entities have signed the protocol (as of Dec. 06). It requires participating developed countries to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. There is one thing that I'm not happy about: the US not ratifying the Kyoto protocol. The US has in fact signed the treaty, but it is purely symbolic. At the time, Vice President Al Gore and Senator Joesph Lieberman indicated that the protocol would not be acted upon in the Senate until there was participation by the developing nations.[reference] This I really don't understand. Why would the Senate wait for developing countries. The US is among the top-2 contributors of greenhouse gas emissions (the other being China, a developing country) and they still refuse to ratify the Kyoto protocol. It's wrong, very wrong.

Blog Action Day!

If you've seen the site lately, you would have seen that I've decorated it with banners that just so happen to match the background color. They are about this event called Blog Action Day. Here is a quote from their site:
On October 15th, bloggers around the web will unite to put a single important issue on everyone’s mind - the environment. Every blogger will post about the environment in their own way and relating to their own topic. Our aim is to get everyone talking towards a better future.I have signed up to be one of the participating blogs. On October 15th, I will post a blog post about the environment. If I can put a show together over the weekend, I'll also squeeze something in about the environment. Anyone who is interested in participating in this worldwide bloggers' event or can sign up on their website at www.blogactionday.org.

Flock
Hello again,
thanks to this new browser called Flock, I can now blog more often (podcasting is still time consuming). I've been doing quite a lot at school: I have been helping to do the class board, helping out at the School Library, doing some behind-the-scenes work for my class (I'm the class prefect) and trying to squeeze some time in for homework, TV and revision for the test next Friday.
This Friday is the Student Association Election. The Student Association is a group that serves the students (hence the name). I attended a press conference today concerning the nominated group (there's only one nominee : AIR, we vote whether or not they will be our SA), it was my first press conference ever and I found it interesting. The previous SA, ECHO, questioned AIR about their policies, then the students were allowed to ask questions - this was the most interesting bit, where everybody bashed them with questions like: what makes you think you are qualified to be the SA?
I will find time to record the next show, and as the Hitchhiker's Guide says: DON'T PANIC.

A letter of apology
Hello everybody,
After a long absence I have finally been able to put up this blog post. As most of you know, I spent August in the Philippines on vacation and that I said to put out a show in September. But, as all you know now, it is October, the month of my parents' anniversary, my dad's birthday and my birthday and I have failed to deliver what I have promised. Now I hope that you can trust me for at least one last time in saying that at least one episode of the GFNP will be released SOON. I also apologize for the somewhat lousy "replacement episode" that I put out in July, felt that it could have been better.
I thank you for taking the time to listen to me and also for your patience and your continuing support for this podcast/blog. BTW, hello to all those new listeners/readers.
