GFN name change

Finally, we have completed the name change thingy. The Gallardo Family Newsletter (Podcast) is now officially renamed Gabriel's Horn (thanks to the guy from the Daily Breakfast Ustream chatroom for the suggestion). The podcast, as you can see below is officially renamed Gabriel's Horn and the blog as well (look at the header). Now all that's left to do let the podcast directories out there gradually find out that we've been re-christened.

Lent and Exercise

The period of 40 days (46 days minus Sundays) before Easter is called Lent. Lent is when Christians usually exercise abstinence and repent (though you can do this at any point in the year).

At the start of Lent (in fact, ever since I failed a push-up exam in Form 1), I decided to start a daily exercise routine: 3 sets of 10 push-ups, sit-ups and squats. I finally started this exercise routine yesterday, and I found that I was severely out of shape: I could do 30 push-ups with minimal difficulty, and 30 squats quite easily, but this wasn't the problem (hey! 30 push-ups is great!). The problem was that I couldn't do 30 sit-ups easily anymore. In form 1, I could do 50 sit-ups with minimal difficulty; but now I can't do 20 sit-ups without my abs hurting like mad. This just goes to show that procrastination isn't all that good for you.

This morning, I did 2 sets of 10 instead of 3. I still could do squats fine, but whenever I did a push-up, my abs would hurt (and my shoulders, but that's ok) and also I just couldn't find the strength to endure the pain of doing more that 20 sit-ups.

Anyway, better late than never right?

Happy Easter everybody!

School open day and Easter break

Last weekend was our school's 50th anniversary Open Day. On Saturday, we had the honor of having Cardinal Joseph Zen (the bishop of Hong Kong) celebrate a thanksgiving mass at our school for our 50th anniversary. We also had two talks that day, one of them was given by an old student who is now famous because of his art. His late mentor used to teach at our school a long time ago and he was his student. What the other talk was about, I don't know.

The school set up a lot of exhibits in the school. Practically all the clubs in the school had set up an exhibit. There were flight simulations by the Computer Society, a really cool freshwater stream ecosystem exhibit by the biology club, some really interesting demonstrations by the Physics club like robots, magnets etc.

After all the excitement, we finally can have our Easter break.

Voting on GFN name

I really hate to bring up this topic again, but it has to be done. I have reset the polls on whether or not 'Gabriel's Horn' will be a good name for the podcast/blog. You can find the poll in the sidebar. You have until the end of March to voice your opinion.
